Abstract

The goosefoot family is includes shrubs and herbs. Most of Nova Scotia's species are weedy and ruderal and produce inconspicuous flowers. Usually the leaves are alternate but may be reduced to bracts. Beets, spinach and swiss chard are vegatables found in this family.
