Ashwiny Kistnareddy completed an Mphil in French studies, specialising in Ananda Devi‘s works and the notion of hybridity in her novels especially. She is a graduate from the Universities of Warwick, Paris IV Sorbonne and University of Nottingham respectively. She has given papers at numerous conferences, both focusing on Mauritian writing/ Indian Ocean literature (Belgium, US and Barcelona) and on general French and francophone conferences (Belfast, Waterford, London, Cambridge, Oxford). Her publications include special editions of journals (Palabres) on the Indian Ocean, chapters in books focusing on madness, defiance, Other bodies and a book-length analysis of Devi and her contemporaries‘ writings.
