Eilene Hoft-March is Professor of French and teaches in the French and Francophone Studies Department of Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin. She has published articles on late twentieth-century and early twenty-first century autobiographies by writers such as Barthes, Beauvoir, Cixous, Clément, and Perec. A particular research interest of hers is how a writer‘s philosophical or critical thought manages to insinuate itself into personal narratives (or perhaps it is that, inadvertently or not, personal narratives appear to illustrate a writer‘s philosophy.) Her current research project analyzes and also experiments with life-writing.
