Ana de Medeiros is Senior Lecturer in French at the University of Kent. Having written a first monograph entitled Les Visages de l‘autre : Alibis, Masques et Identité dans“Alexis ou le Traité du vain combat,” “Denier du rêve” et “Mémoires d‘Hadrien” de Marguerite Yourcenar, she followed this by editing a collection of essays focused on the question of identity and exile in Yourcenar‘s oeuvre. She has continued to publish mainly in the areas of women‘s studies and autobiography with a number of recent articles analyzing the role of politics, language and art in Assia Djebar‘s oeuvre. In the past two years she has been working towards a volume on father-daughter relationships provisionally entitled: Filles à Papa.
