Dr Michèle A. Schaal is Assistant Professor of English and of Women‘s and Gender Studies at Iowa State University. Her research areas are 21st century women writers, gender studies and contemporary feminisms, as well as literary hypermodernity. She has presented her work in several international conferences and her publications include: “Virginie Despentes or a French Third Wave of Feminism” (Adrienne Angelo and Erika Fülöp, eds., Cherchez la femme: Women and Values in the Francophone World, Newcastle upon Tyne: Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2011); “Troisième vague féministe américaine et jeune féminisme français: une introduction comparative” (Lendemains 37.145, 2012); and “Claire Legendre‘s Portrait of Hypermodern Society” (Studies in 20th & 21st Century Literature 37.1, 2013).
