Dr Sara Poole is Senior Lecturer of French Studies at Reading University. She teaches language and translation on 20th-century literature including the North-African novel, the short story and Chanson). Her research interests are metropolitan French literature/popular culture in the twentieth century; the French language and its teaching; translation; chanson, and the short story. She has published three books: Etcherelli: Elise ou la vraie vie, London, Grant & Cutler (Critical Guide No. 104), 1994; Brassens: les chansons, London, Grant & Cutler (Critical Guide No. 125), 2000; Brel and Chanson, Lanham, Maryland, University Press of America, 2004. Dr Poole also published several articles on Annie Saumont.
