Margaret Heller

Margaret Heller is an Assistant Professor in the Foundation Year and Contemporary Studies Programmes at the University of King's College, Halifax. In 2007 she completed a doctorate specializing in intellectual and cultural history at the Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio. The title of her dissertation was "The Dawning of the West: On the Genesis of a Concept." Peggy is a member of the Politics and the Arts research team in the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Political Thought and Conceptual Change, based at University of Jyväskylä, Finland. Her most recent article is "Dostoyevsky on Terror and the Question of the West" in Terror and the Arts: Artistic, Literary, and Political Interpretations of Violence from Dostoyevsky to Abu Ghraib, forthcoming from Palgrave.
