Stephen Walton is Assistant Professor of French at Portland State University. He received his Ph.D. in French literature and African Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His principal areas of scholarly interest are nineteenth and twentieth-century poetry in French and francophone literatures of West Africa and the Caribbean. He is a co-director of two federally-funded projects to integrate authentic materials from the Worldwide Web into beginning and intermediate language classes.
