Robert W. Greene, who teaches in the Department of French Studies at the State University of New York, Albany, is the author of The Poetic Theory of Pierre Reverdy (University of California Press, 1967), Six French Poets of Our Time (Princeton University Press, 1979), and articles on twentieth-century French poetry, fiction and art criticism by poets.
