Peter Kussmaul, Dr. phil. (Basle), Dr. phil. habil. (Heidelberg), has held teaching and research positions in Marburg, Heidelberg, Darmstadt, Princeton (Institute for Advanced Study), Basle, Halifax (Dalhousie).
