Neoplatonist Surprises: The Doctrine of Providence of Plotinus and his Followers both Conscious and Unconscious

Wayne J. Hankey is Carnegie Professor of Classics at King‘s College and Dalhousie University, Chairman of Classics with Arabic, Hebrew and the Programme in Religious Studies, and Editor of Dionysius. His most recent volumes are Deconstructing Radical Orthodoxy: Postmodern Theology, Rhetoric and Truth, edited with Douglas Hedley and published by Aldershot in 2005; Perspectives sur le néoplatonisme, International Society for Neoplatonic Studies, Actes du colloque de 2006, edited with Martin Achard and Jean-Marc Narbonne and published by Les Presses de l‘Université Laval in 2009; and Changing our Mind on Secularization. He is currently writing n the Neoplatonic doctrines of providence and of hierarchy, the natural and supernatural in late ancient philosophy, Dionysius the Areopagite, Eriugena, and Aquinas‘ Aristotle.
