Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
Reference Linking
Where available, DOI URLs for references must be provided for references to articles accessed online. DOIs are normally available on the articles themselves or can be retrieved via Crossref at http://www.crossref.org/guestquery
The DOI URL starts with http://dx.doi.org/ followed by the DOI itself e.g. 10.15273/dmj.Vol40No2.4534 . Resulting in a URL that looks like this:
http://dx.doi.org/10.15273/dmj.Vol40No2.4534
If there is no DOI available, please supply a URL for the article.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
Copyright Notice
1. Licence: The Dalhousie Review hereby grants both individual subscribers and institutional subscribers (including their employees, faculty and students) the right to access the electronic version of the publication for scholarly, research, educational and/or personal use. By accessing this content, subscribers confirm that they have read, understood and accepted the terms of this agreement. Subscribers who do not renew their subscriptions will no longer retain access to the electronic version of the publication, and the journal reserves the right to terminate access for any breach of the following terms.
2. Registration: Access to the electronic version of the publication shall be controlled through the use of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, and subscribers are responsible for providing valid IP addresses for their institutions. Subscribers may also be issued a user name and password in order to access the electronic version of the publication, and they may be issued a new password or required to change their password at any time. Subscribers are also responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their accounts and for all of the activities that occur through the use of their accounts, and they agree to notify us of any unauthorized use of their accounts or any other breach of security.
3. Privacy: By providing personal information, subscribers consent to us maintaining, recording and using this information for internal purposes only. Such information will not be shared with any third parties.
4. Copying: The Dalhousie Review also grants both individual subscribers and institutional subscribers (including their employees, faculty and students) the right to retrieve, display, download and/or print copies of documents from the electronic version of the publication for which their subscriptions have been paid. Such copying shall be limited to single copies of a reasonable number of individual items solely for scholarly, research, educational and/or personal use in accordance with the terms of this agreement. Teachers, students, researchers and/or librarians acting on behalf of non-profit institutions may also print single copies of a reasonable number of individual items for use in teaching or research, provided that such copies are not sold. Institutional subscribers may also supply single copies of a reasonable number of individual items through interlibrary loan, provided that such copies are for the purposes of research or private study and not for commercial use.
5. Permissions: Requests to republish or reproduce documents from the electronic version of the publication should be sent directly to the original author, who remains the copyright owner. Quotations from these documents may also be included in scholarly books and/or articles in accordance with copyright law, provided that the original author and publication are attributed.
6. Alterations: Subscribers and their authorized users may not modify, adapt, transform, translate or create any derivative works based on documents from the electronic version of the publication or otherwise use any such materials in a manner that would infringe the copyright therein without permission from the copyright owner.
7. Unauthorized Use: Subscribers agree to notify us immediately of any infringements of copyright in the publication or any unauthorized use of the publication of which they become aware. In the event of any infringement of copyright law by an authorized user, subscribers shall also take all reasonable steps to make the user cease such activity and to prevent any recurrence thereof. Subscribers shall not be liable for any breach of the terms of this agreement by any authorized user so long as they did not intentionally assist or encourage the breach or permit it to continue after having actual notice thereof.
8. Disclaimer: The publisher, editors and reviewers do not accept any legal responsibility for errors, omissions or claims in the electronic version of the publication, and the journal is not liable for any loss or damage arising from a failure on the part of subscribers to comply with the terms of this agreement. The journal also reserves the right to change, modify or otherwise alter the terms of this agreement at any time.
