Jeffrey Spires teaches French at Hamilton College. He received his Ph.D. from Princeton University, and his research interests include nineteenth-century French literature and French cinema. He bas done work on Hugo, Flaubert, Zola, and on the films of Erick Zonca and Agnès Varda.
