Janie Vanpée is Professor of French at Smith College. She bas published essays on Rousseau, J.-B. Greuze, Laclos, Riccoboni, Olympe de Gouges, and the Encyclopédie in Yale French Studies, Esprit créateur, Eighteenth-Century Fiction, Eighteenth-CenturyStudies, Studies on Voltaire and the Eighteenth Century, and Theatre Journal.
