Hélène Sicard-Cowan received her PhD in French and Francophone Literatures from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2004. This spring, she is a scholar-in-residence in the Department of French Language and Literature at the University of Virginia. Her current research focuses on immigrant and « beur » narratives and their reception, German identity in post-war French Literature, as well as regional cultures. She is at work on a larger project concerning representations of the Brittany region in French and Francophone literatures and visual media.
