Victoria Best is College Lecturer in French at St John's College, Cambridge. She is co-editor of Powerful Bodies: Performance in French Cultural Studies (Peter Lang, 1999) and her book Critical Subjectivities: Narrative and Identity in the Work of Colette and Marguerite Duras will be published shortly by Peter Lang. She is currently working on the use of fantasy, dreams and hallucinations in twentieth-century French literature.
