Constance Cartmill is Associate Professor of French and Acting Head of the Department of French, Spanish & Italian at the University of Manitoba. She has studied questions of subjectivity and epistolary rhetoric in 17th century French literature. Her current research focuses on the correspondence of Pierre Nicole and the writings of early French explorers in Western Canada and Hudson Bay.
