Raymond Bach received his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Stanford University and is now Assistant Professor of French at Colgate University. He has published articles on such diverse subjects as The Book of Esther and the library of Jacques Doucet. Forthcoming articles are on Victor Hugo's Contemplations (in Romanic Review) and Celine's pamphlets (in Romance Notes). He is currently working on the problem of humiliation in the modern novel.
