Trois auteurs pour un vaudeville en un acte : Le Secret d’état de 1831
Abstract
This study deals with the collaboration between Eugène Sue and two dramatists (Ferdinand de Villeneuve et Édouard Monnais) in the composition of Le Secret d’état, a vaudeville of 1831. We begin with the literary and life development of the two dramatists. We then analyse the main features of this comedy in one act, as well as the critic reviews of the time. We also venture the two collaborators’ particular contribution in the composition of the play, in view of their former experience and their knowledge of the different mechanisms of the genre, as previously analysed in this vaudeville.
