In this article, we reflect on André du Bouchet‘s comments on the poetic image. Starting from the author‘s commentaries on poetry, notably « Ébauches autour de la vision » (1953), « Banalité » (1952-3), « Candidature au C. N.R.S., 1er mars 1955 », as well as that of 1956, we highlight the salient points of the construction of the image. Along the way, we address the question of the formation of the image, its binary disposition, and the continuity and sequencing of images.

Glenn Fetzer
Glenn Fetzer est professeur de français et chef du département de langues et de linguistiques à New Mexico State University. Ses recherches portent sur la poésie moderne et contemporaine, ainsi que sur les rapports entre l‘énonciation et la poésie. Parmi ses publications récentes on compte des textes sur Tahar Bekri, Mathieu Bénézet, Paul Claudel, Lorand Gaspar, et Emmanuel Hocquard. Il est l‘auteur de Palimpsests of the Real in Recent French Poetry et Emmanuel Hocquard and the Poetics of Negative Modernity. Il prépare actuellement une étude sur Lorand Gaspar.
