Bernadette Höfer is an Assistant Professor of French at the Ohio State University. She is the author of Psychosomatic Disorders in Seventeenth-Century French Literature (Burlington, VT: Ashgate, 2009). Her research focuses on the intersection of early modern literature, philosophy, history, and medicine, as understood through the prism of that era as well as of contemporary neuroscience. She has published articles on Brosse, Descartes, Molière, Lafayette, Spinoza, Surin, and Michel de Certeau.
