Dr Marlène Barsoum is Associate Professor of French at Hunter College and at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Her fields of interest are Francophone and nineteenth-century French literature. She is the author of Théophile Gautier‘s Mademoiselle de Maupin: Toward a Definition of the ‘Androgynous Discourse.‘ She has also published several articles on the writer Andrée Chedid and has recently completed a book-length manuscript on her prose-fiction. She is also interested in travel literature and has published articles on the traveler Ibn Battuta.
