Beverly J. Evans, a specialist in medieval French literature and music, is Associate Professor of French and Western Humanities at the State University of New York at Geneseo. The article in this volume was written during a semester she spent as a Visiting Scholar at the McGill Centre for Research and Teaching on Women, Montréal. Other recent research has focused on francophone writers from Québec and Sénégal. Beverly J. Evans also serves as North American Coordinator for Encomia, the bibliographical bulletin of the International Courtly Literature Society, and as Northeast Vice President of Pi Delta Phi, National French Honor Society (USA).
