Professor of French at the College of William and Mary. She has studied questions of casuistry in La Fontaine and Pascal, and more recently has worked on medical texts, fairy tales, and literary aspects of cartography in seventeenth-century France. She is currently researching the connections between the literary fairy tale of 1690-1750 and contemporary exploration literature and geography.
