Edward J. Gallagher is Professor of French at Wheaton College, Massachusetts, and editor of the Sainte-Geneviève Passion Nostre Seigneur (UNCSRLL 179). He bas also published articles on other medieval subjects (Le roman de Silence, Bédier's Roman de Tristan et Iseut, the Visio Lazari). In addition to his work on Flaubert and Mauriac, he has published articles on such modern topics as Rousseau's political thought, nineteenth-century censorship, and the adaptation of French novels into film. He is currently working on a study of the Abbé Boumisien, Emma Bovary's parish priest.
