James Petterson is Assistant Professor of French at Wellesley College. His work focuses on the historical, social, and ideological context of French poetry. His most recent articles on Jacques Dupin, Yves Bonnefoy, and Louis-René des Forêts have appeared in L'injonction silencieuse, Zeitschrift fuéˆr franzosische Sprache und Literatur, and Modem Language Notes. He is currently working on a book entitled The Politics of Poetry in France from 1600 to the Present.
