Author Biography

Barbara R. Woshinsky

Barbara R. Woshinsky is Professor of Foreign Languages and former Director of Women's Studies at the University of Miami. She serves on the executive boards of SE17 and CIR17; she has been a recipient of ACLS and NEH fellowships and has been a Fellow at the Bunting lnstitute of Radcliffe College. Her publications include La Princesse de Clèves: The Tension of Elegance (1973); The Linguistic Imperative in French Classical Literature (1991); "Esther aux portes de Versailles" in Esthétique baroque et imagination créatrice (1998). Her current research involves the representation of women's convents in classical fiction.
