Peter Broome is Professor of French at the Queen's University of Belfast. His main publications include The Appreciation of Modern French Poetry 1850-1950 and An Anthology of Modern French Poetry 1850-1950 (with G. Chesters) (Cambridge University Press, 1976), Henri Michaux and an accompanying critical edition of Michaux's Au pays de la magie (Athlone Press, 1977), Andre Frenaud (Rodopi, 1986), as well as essays on Rimbaud, Michaux, Char, Frenaud, Jaccottet, Gracq, Pinget and Zao Wou-Ki. He has published a book of poems entitled Mirrors of Venice (Udine: Campanotto, 1987). A bilingual edition of Henri Michaux's Deplacements, degagements is due to appear in 1991 (Bloodaxe Books).
