Kathleen Comfort is Visiting Assistant Professor of French at the University of Missouri. Her dissertation focused on the representation of psychosomatic illness in four French novels from the period 1836-1936. Her article, "Blood Memory: Hereditary Metaphors in Émile Zola's Le Docteur Pascal" is forthcoming in Romance Quarterly. She is a member of the team of the Romantic Movement Bibliography, and is currently working on a study of hysteria and miraculous healing in Zola's Lourdes.
