Mechthild Cranston is Professor of French at Clemson University, where she has taught courses in twentieth-century poetry and prose, women writers, and literature and film. The author of seven books and numerous articles in the fields of modern poetry and prose, she is also past editor of The Comparatist, journal of the Southern Comparative Literature Association. Her collection of Duras essays, In Language and in Love: Marguerite Duras: The Unspeakable, was published in 1992 by Scripta Humanistica.
