MICHAEL CHASE holds the Doctor of Philosophy in
Greek Philosophy from the École Pratique des Hautes Études (5e Section).
He now works in Paris as a Research Engineer in the UPR 76 of the Centre
National de la Recherche scientifique (CNRS). Having written a thesis on
Porphyry‘s lost Commentary on Aristotle‘s Categories addressed to
Gedalius, and published a translation of part of Simplicius‘ Commentary
on the same work (Simplicius, On Aristotle Categories 1–4, [London:
Duckworth, 2003]), his interests are now converging on Porphyry‘s
religious and eschatological thought. His email address is
