Two Forms of Escape: YA Book to Film or TV Adaptation

Abstract

We are seeing more and more YA books and series being formatted for film or television. Having access to two very different mediums that cover the same plot and characters means having access to two different yet complementary forms of escape. There are now two different ways for you to consume the same story that you can explore depending on your interests or desired time commitment. There are times when you want the escape that books can provide without the extensive time commitment that comes with reading. Alternatively, you might be looking for the unabridged version of a story that you loved on screen. In this list we will be going over some wonderful YA books and series that have been made into either films or TV shows.
