Reading for Pleasure and Empathy: Making the connection

Abstract

Despite the benefits of reading for pleasure and of developing empathy, few studies have explicitly linked the two, and even fewer have done so with young adult readers in mind. This brief survey of the literature highlights this gap and suggests a course of further action.
