Building resiliency skills in youth: How libraries can make a difference

Abstract

Resiliency, an individual's ability to maintain well-being despite difficult circumstances, is a skill that can be taught and learned. This article discusses how library programs can be structured to help teens build resiliency skills, such as problem-solving, developing community connections and relationships with others, increasing self-esteem and stress-management skills.
