Young adults are more connected to celebrities than ever before because of social media. Celebrities have been targeting young voters to engage politically through social media posts, while writing cheques and hosting benefits for their favourite politicians. The influence that celebrities have on young people should be critically examined by librarians, who have the capacity to foster further discussion and inquiry among the public. Librarians need to ask the right questions in order to navigate the future of democracy.
