Abstract

This article examines the relationship between written and visual expression in Henri Michaux, specifically in his later texts Par des Traits and Émergences, Résurgences. Based on Walter Benjamin‘s destructive character and George Bataille‘s imperative/sovereign power, the article develops the notion of a poetic being in constant metamorphosis. In Michaux‘s work, being seeks an intimate language at the interval of verbal and visual expression. The article proposes the term ontograffie to describe this distinctive form of expression in Michaux‘s poetic project.
