About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Hinge is a peer-reviewed annual publication of undergraduate works contemplating topics in contemporary philosophy and critical theory. It is published by the Contemporary Studies Society of the King's Student Union at the University of King's College in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We publish essays, short stories, poetry, and visual art investigating the contemporary condition.
Peer Review Process
Submissions to Hinge are accepted at the discretion of the Co-Editors-in-Chief followed by a double-blind peer review process (involving at least two reviewers per piece).
Publication Frequency
The selection process will commence after February 6th and will take no more than two weeks. Authors will be notified as to whether or not their entry has been accepted by mid-February. Successful candidates will be sent a proofed version of their piece by Feb 27th, which they must approve by Mar 6th. Proofs will be limited to spelling, grammar, and adaptations to Chicago Style Citation. The editor may include suggestions for other minor changes at his or her own discretion. Authors can track the status of their submissions on the 'Review' tab of their registered account on the Open Journal System.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
