On behalf of the HPI Flagship team for Improving the Health Outcomes of People of African Descent, we would like to welcome you to this special issue on “Improving Black Health Outcomes.” We are thrilled to be partnering with HPJ for this issue focusing on Black health equity and the imperative need to reduce health disparities.

The journal aims to reduce barriers to publishing and sharing research and inequalities to accessing information.This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
