Community Partnerships as Pedagogy
Abstract
Active community partnerships can be at the heart of experiential education and high-impact practices, and community-based education that communities value can foster long-term community partnerships. This workshop will engage participants in actively exploring Acadia’s Community Development program’s efforts toward reciprocity with community partnerships. We will share the why and what of community partnerships as pedagogy and, more importantly, the how. We will share lessons learned, strategies and practical advice to support asset-based approaches that connect and nourish community organizations, students, and post-secondary institutions.
